Phoenix Delray asked: If you love mixed martial arts and can not seem to watch enough of cage fights, chances are you already own at least one piece of MMA apparel. These days, mixed martial arts are everywhere. There was a reality television show dedicated to the sport, which one MMA clothing company even sponsored. The sales of that particular brand went through the roof, as famous fighters like Chuck Liddell made appearances wearing that specific brand of MMA apparel. And even in the fights the contenders were wearing it!
The one thing you should know about MMA apparel is that different brands and styles are not created equal. Some MMA clothing brands are high quality through and through, made out of only the best fabrics and stitched together in a way that the seams will never fall apart. Before spending a lot of money on Mixed Martial Arts apparel, you should inspect the craftsmanship of the clothes. Even if the MMA gear is expensive, that does not necessarily mean that the clothes are high quality.
Another thing to look for in MMA clothing is a spandex content. Most of the clothes that fighters wear are made out of fabrics like nylon and cotton, specifically in blends that are known to wick away sweat. Fabrics with a little bit of spandex in them will move with you, instead of against you. This translates to a good fit that keeps it close to your body. As you probably know, no professional fighter enters the ring with loose fitting clothes.
One of the other advantages to seeking out MMA apparel with a little bit of spandex is the fact that cotton and spandex blends are less likely to tear. Plus, with the stretch that spandex offers, it keeps the clothing from cutting into your skin and becoming uncomfortable. From working out to actually fighting in a cage match, the last thing you really want to be worrying about is how uncomfortable your shorts are.
The final thing you should consider when deciding which brands of MMA gear to invest in is where the clothes are actually made. When you buy MMA clothing that is made in America, you know that your purchase will help to stimulate the American economy. Additionally, there is something to be said for knowing for sure that your Mixed Martial Arts apparel was not constructed in a third world country by young children.

ily wily asked: i take taekwondo and i love martial arts. recently ive been really frustrated with lots of people who think they know about martial arts. the most annoying thing is when people say a certain style is not affective. most of the people saying that dont even take the style so how would you know? also i hate how people think martial arts is all about learning how to beat someone up. martial arts were created to teach self defence and other principles to make a better person. mma organizations like ufc and pride shouldnt be called really martial arts. they learn ma to beat the other people up for money and glory. people thinking that sparring is fighting bugs me too. i have a friend who asks what is the purpose of sparring if you aren’t trying to beat the other person up as much as you can. sparring is an activity that builds strength, focus, technique, speed, sportsmanship, and reflex. it’s not just a fight with protective gear.people who dont know ma should shut up
thank u

dunn4040 asked: I have been lifting for about 7 months now so I don’t consider myself a beginner anymore. I am looking for some stuff that I could be doing in the gym that is more geared toward strength that would translate into MMA though. I train in MMA and have done so for about 2 years now. I would love to pursue a fighting career at some point but I have a ways to go skill wise before that happens. Since I started lifting I have seen a huge increase in my striking power but I am looking for some exercises/lifts that I could do that would translate into the strength I need for the sport. Please, only serious advice.
