moon420 asked: I’m 22 years old and have decided to get into MMA. I want to get a fight as soon as possible to see what I’m made of, and was wondering what the minimum time training I need to have a chance. Also my natural weight is 163 and I think lightweight is 155. How much water weight can you safely loose? What is the best way to prepare and loose wight for a fight?

superflotsam asked: My boyfriend has expressed an interest in mixed martial arts for quite some time so I was thinking of getting him some gear and paying for a few classes as a christmas present this year. He loves working out and he has a few friends who do mma so I’m pretty sure it would be worth the money (and I also can’t think of anything else to get him!). So I was wondering if someone knowledgeable in this area could tell me what gear he would need to get started, what brands are best, etc…I don’t know too much about it myself and I don’t want to get the wrong thing. I found a few gyms nearby that are possibilities but if anyone knows of any good places in the Monroe or Charlotte, NC area it would be great if I could get some recommendations. Thanks!

the ghost asked: I have seen several good MMA matches with women as the combatants and wonder why they haven’t gotten more attention. The first time I seen one was in Japan and I was blown away!! They were going for triangles, omoplatas, and everything those girls had the best fight of the night. I know there aren’t a large pool of women mma fighters but has anyone heard of a major promotion like strikeforce, elite xc or something promoting a womens mma fight?

Carlo T asked: I would expect an MMA teacher to have a rule that says no fighting outside the gym unless you’re defending yourself and a rule that says Avoid getting into or starting fights. So what rules does your MMA teacher have about fighting outside the gym?

Ken C asked: I’ve been looking around several answers about female mma, and most seem to believe the women mma doesn’t attract the numbers. But looking at fighters like Gina Carano, isn’t it reasonable to think that a women’s division could attract a following in UFC? Isn’t the a big part of EliteXC surviving because of Carano/Santos?
