When will women start headlining their own MMA fights?

the ghost asked:
I have seen several good MMA matches with women as the combatants and wonder why they haven’t gotten more attention. The first time I seen one was in Japan and I was blown away!! They were going for triangles, omoplatas, and everything those girls had the best fight of the night. I know there aren’t a large pool of women mma fighters but has anyone heard of a major promotion like strikeforce, elite xc or something promoting a womens mma fight?

Uhhh Yea.. Elite XC and strikeforce both I think have women competitors. I know the rather attractive Gina Carano has fought for Elite XC. I believe she’s going back after this session with American Gladiators:
Honestly I agree that they need to be promoted more, but don’t think they’re completely left out of the picture.
Gina Carano is a bad ass figther..hands down. Elite XC promotes her. Like the previous guy said they should get more attention.
You can check out Hook and Shoot. There are lots of women MMA organizations just google it. Most of the top female fighters are in Japan and dont really fight here unfortunately. And Gina Carano is highly overrated. If she was one of the top female fighters womens MMA would be in alot of trouble.
Maybe when the WNBA and women’s hockey start mattering.
EliteXC does them all the time. Still, the mens fights are always better.
Honestly I think it is because the masses prefer to watch men duke it out then woman.
Per Ratio their are far more many male fighters than woman so the divisions would not be as large as the mens.
I wonder if woman and men should rather be allowed to fight with one another instead? What do you guys think of that? Could a man fight a woman in the ring and give it their all and not hold back? Would a woman stand a chance?
